On July 1, 2019, Mr. Jeremy Burnett was sworn in as the newest member of the Lakeland School Board by Shelby County Commissioner Mick Wright. Mr. Burnett was appointed to the position vacated by former Board member Geoff Hicks.
Jeremy has been a resident of Lakeland since 2012 most recently serving the City as a volunteer member of the Economic Development Commission/Industrial Development Board. He currently serves as the Dean of Faculty Support at Southwest Tennessee Community College where he has been employed as a member of faculty and administration for nearly 20 years. His background in education will surely suit him well as he works with the School Board to develop the curriculum for Lakeland Preparatory High School as well as continuing the excellence of Lakeland Elementary and Lakeland Middle.
We commend the Board of Commissioners for their decision to appoint such an excellent choice to this position. We congratulate Jeremy, his wife Rachel, their son and two daughters. We look forward to his tenure on the Board.
